Charnwood Training Group operates nationally and has trained over 10,000 learners and worked with over 3,000 industry employer units on personal and professional development.

Charnwood was founded in 1998 and has since grown to occupy a national presence, working with some of the largest employers in the licensed hospitality sector and projecting a turnover of over £6m for 2013.

A Quick History

The strategic plan is to further strengthen Charnwood's regional operations over the next two years. With a national infrastructure in place, the Charnwood brand will be a powerful force within each of the regions demarcated by the Skills Funding agency. The company currently employs just over 150 staff, although this is set to reach 200 by the end of 2013.

Quality, development and admin teams are housed at Charnwood's support hub in Nottinghamshire, while field-based training officers and area managers support hospitality businesses throughout England and Wales.

Charnwood holds Ofsted Grade 2 status and works with significant players in the sector -- big and small -- including Greene King, Enterprise Inns, Punch Taverns, Wyndham Hotels, Spirit Pub Company, Premier Inn and The Living Room.

Every single person responsible for training delivery at Charnwood has experience at the sharp end of hospitality operations so they can relate on a personal level to the path their learners are following. They can empathise with the challenges and celebrate the successes because they've all been there.

'Timely completion' rates for Charnwood learners stand at 80& - the highest in the industry, against a national average of 65.5% and overall success rates are currently 84.2% compared to a national average of 76.5%.

Charnwood has maintained a strong relationship with the Skills Funding Agency and National Apprenticeship Service for over 123 years. The company is also a registered member of the Association of Employment and Learning Providers and is active on a number of consortiums and industry bodes, including the British Institute of Innkeeping (BII).

Charnwood is a key partner in the new BII apprenticeship programme.
