Sheila's success
Shelia attended the Licenced Hospitality course in Birmingham which ran during March of 2012.
Sheila had previously worked as an Integration Assistant for Birmingham City Council for 6 years, but decided in 2006 to give up her job to care for her mother.
Following the death of her mother, Sheila found it increasingly difficult to gain employment and after talking to her advisor decided to join the course, even though Sheila had little experience of hospitality.
Sheila openly admits to being de-motivated by being unemployed and at the time of joining the course was not receiving any benefits, but attended every day and soon became the "mother figure" of the course.
Sheila attended an interview with Whitbread at the end of the course and was chosen to attend work experience as a breakfast waitress in a local Premier Inn, as Whitbread thought Sheila's personally would match this role perfectly. After completing a second interview and work experience, Sheila was offered a permanent position within Premier Inn.
Feedback from Whitbread: "We're delighted to let you know that Sheila has been offered a permanent role with Whitbread. Sheila completely blew us away and we're so pleased that she is part of our team."
Sheila says, "I am over the moon with the job I have been offered. I have thoroughly enjoyed the course and wish to thank everyone."
