Charnwood Training Group blazed a trail at the annual Nottinghamshire STARS awards, held on Thursday 27 May at Nottingham's Crowne Plaza. Charnwood trainee, Chef Apprentice Daniel Martin recognised as the Best New Entrant into the Industry, whilst we also enjoyed nominations in 3 further categories.
STARS works with both employers and training providers to promote careers and recognise excellence in the tourism, culture, leisure & hospitality industry and, of course, the team at Charnwood are equally passionate about raising hospitality standards.
In presenting the award the judges praised Daniel for his ability to adapt, learn, progress and succeed in a challenging industry.
Meanwhile our joint MD Jeremy Scorer was runner-up for the prestigious 'Best Ambassador for Industry' award, in recognition of his exceptional contribution to the hospitality industry.
We were also nominated in two further categories. Charnwood client Rebecca Roberts, manager of Starbucks on Upper Parliament Street, Nottingham was shortlisted for 'Outstanding Young Manager' while clients Karl, Sharon & Gareth Bartsch of Bartsch Inns, were recognised for their commitment to training and skills development opportunities in the 'Best Practice in Training' category.
After an evening of celebration, Jeremy Scorer praised staff, students and clients, commenting, "Daniel fully deserves his win. We were particularly proud of the breadth of our nominations -- but even more delighted that our students and clients alike have done us proud in living up to our reputation as 'the hospitality professionals'!
